Dr. Chiquita Howard-Bostic receives the Paul and Lisa Welch Endowment Award to fund a workshop and constructive, in-depth community dialogue about how inequalities across social, political, education and financial systems affect everyone. The event entitled, From Diversity to Multiculturalism on October 1, 2015 was designed to inspire community members and SU affiliates to engage in social change. Together, the group can deepen their understanding of the system of inequality and move to action.
(2014) WV FACDIS Grant
Dr. Chiquita Howard-Bostic receives the Faculty/Course Development in International Studies (FACDIS) Grant Supporting International Travel. Howard-Bostic was granted funds toward a conference presentation at the Oxford Women’s Leadership Symposium, Margaret Thatcher Centre, Somerville College of Oxford University. A narrative of her achievements are listed in FACDIS annual newsletter. Also, a summary of the Oxford experience will be featured in the FACDIS newsletter.
(2015) Shepherd University Outstanding Teacher Award
Dr. Chiquita Howard-Bostic receives the Outstanding Teacher Award. Howard-Bostic wears a special medal at the McMurran Convocation and at SU Commencement. The medal indicates the award and the year received. Dr. Howard-Bostic’s name is listed on an award plaque displayed in the Learning Commons. She also receives a professional development stipend through the Office of Academic Affairs.
(2015) WV Remote Online Collaborative Knowledge System Grant
Dr. Chiquita Howard-Bostic receives the West Virginia’s Remote Online Collaborative Knowledge System (WVROCKS) Course Creation Grant. WVROCKS offers a network of online courses for four-year degree programs in the State of West Virginia. It was launched by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and is powered and staffed in part by WVNET.

(2016) Resolution, State of NY Legislature of Erie County
The State of New York Legislature of Eric County has paused in its deliberation to recognize Dr. Chiquita Howard-Bostic's work in increasing diversity and social justice both in and out of her classroom and welcomed her to speak in Buffalo, New York. Just as Medgar Evers worked to right injustice he saw in his community, Howard-Bostic is honored for doing the same by instilling better global views in her students and in serving her community as a fighter for those who need her most. She was honored at the Buffalo Branch NAACP 50th Annual Medgar Evers Dinner on June 12, 2016.
(2014) Storer College Faculty Service Award
Dr. Chiquita Howard-Bostic is the first faculty member to receive Shepherd University's newly created Storer College Faculty Award. The award recognizes a member of the faculty at Shepherd who incorporates diversity and social justice into his or her classroom, research, scholarship, and interaction with students.
